Well, not exactly light but on a smaller portion. Today's entrée is composed based on what I found in the cabinet and in the refrigerator. It was the easiest and the fastest meal to cook and to prepare. The hardest part preparing this entrée is when setting up the display model for the photo session. Sous did most of the cooking while I prepared the ingredients. Cutting the huge piece of pork is not easy as I expected. The cleaver I used was not razor sharp enough to thinly slice the pork like I wanted. Again, the G9000 Mudman is responsible for the time stamp.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001825.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001825.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001826.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001826.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001829.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001829.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />A close-up of the "three layer"<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001827.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001827.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001833.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001833.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />The last dish is a dessert: <span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);">Peanut Rice Ball with Red Bean Base</span>.<br />This dessert is dedicated to a very good friend of mine living in 94040. This time it took a very long time from preparation to completion. Mum and my closed relative love this dish and this time, I'm trying my best to recreate this entrée.<br /><br />The preparation started with tears while peeling and julienning shallots. Fried shallots is one of the main 'accessories' and we need lots of it.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001589.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001589.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001591.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001591.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />Another 'accessory' would be tiny little dried anchovies. I have to slowly pan fried them with few drops of Canola oil until they are crispy golden brown.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001606.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001606.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>I then proceeded preparing the soup. Here you can see dried anchovies being used and while it's boiling, you can see them happily swimming about.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001595.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001595.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />While I was frying the shallots, preparing the soup, slicing and dicing other ingredients, my sous chef is preparing the dough. Told her to use her feet but she rather use her hands.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001612.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001612.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001615.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001615.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001617.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001617.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />1 hour 38 minutes 37 seconds 83 milliseconds and counting.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001618.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001618.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />Every dough was flatten out and cut into pieces and then boiled to cook. It's like ravioli but without the stuffing.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001622.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001622.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />Finally, soup and other 'accessories' were added and ready to be photographed. Here, you can see, there are fishballs, fried shallots and anchovies, green onion, vegetables (choi sam), and saucy ground pork to add to the flavor.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001626.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001626.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001638.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001638.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001634.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p315/mansrow/GW1500/FOOD/S7001634.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />It took me and the sous chefs 2 hours, 9 minutes, 35 seconds, 28 milliseconds to prepare this dish. First off, marinated wings were baked for a very long time. I didn't have my timepiece today because it is hot as hell in the kitchen today even with the AC running.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=684"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=684" alt="" border="0" /></a>Though I don't have my timepiece at the moment, I used my assistant timepiece. I went hunting in the fridge looking for ingredients and found pork ribs, shrimps, frozen pizza, socks, frozen peas and other unidentified items.<br /><br />After spending whole day deciding on the menu, we came out with :<br /><br />Sweet sour deep-fried ribs with cucumber and pineapple<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=563"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=563" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=564"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=564" alt="" border="0" /></a>Seaweed with fish cake egg-drop soup<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=565"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=565" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />Last and not least, introducing the <span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(51, 255, 51);font-family:times new roman;font-size:100%;" >Drunken Sea Dragon</span>. Too much time spent in the kitchen is unhealthy to the male reproductive organs, and so they say !!! You will never know that one day someone decided to cut off your testicles while you're making an omelet.<br /><br />The food was so-so, not great. The Japanese rice they used is not sticky enough and it came apart when picked up with chopsticks. It's totally unacceptable when the rice came apart left and right and worst of all, it disintegrate when dip in the wasabi/soy sauce. It's like eating porridge from that point on. But to start off, we had salad, Miso soup and Green tea....your typical Japanese appetizer.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=530"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=530" alt="" border="0" /></a>and side of really green Seaweed. We decided to name it the <span style="font-size:130%;"><span style="color: rgb(51, 204, 0); font-weight: bold;">Hulk Seaweed.</span></span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=531"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=531" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />I have to give an "A" for effort though. The first dish came with fire on the side and I'm quite impressed. It made up for the taste and honestly, it did ! Here's a picture of the Roll of Fire<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=532"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=532" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=533"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=533" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />Next, we had some roll that were deep fried and actually regretted ordering it just because it got too many ingredients rolled into on, making it a battlefield for our taste buds.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=534"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=534" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />Last and final dish, we had Unagi and crab sushi. I was expecting fresh crab meat legs but it turns out that those were the crab meats where you can find it in the frozen section of your local Asian grocery store. What a rip-off !!!!! The unagi was soggy and dull. I was a little bit mean with the comments but the truth need to be told.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=535"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=535" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />At least we were full but not as satisfied. Usually I can eat a whole lot more but the rice they used really filled me up. It was overpriced and I doubt there will be a second visit. School was out and lesson learnt.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:180%;" ><span style="font-weight: bold;">Bon Appetit !!!!</span></span><br /></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-948056009200987966.post-6841361491619679442008-05-28T01:25:00.005-05:002008-05-28T07:31:39.498-05:00May 20th: Pork chop served with buttery garlicky riceAs of May 20th, this dish is one of my creation using my own recipe.<br /><br />Introducing Pork Chop served with butter garlic rice and a side of salad.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=435"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=435" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />A little close-up will do no harm.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=436"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px;" src="http://forums.watchuseek.com/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=436" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:180%;" ><span style="font-weight: bold;">Bon Appetit !!!!</span></span><br /></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-948056009200987966.post-65375452815610366532008-05-28T00:41:00.006-05:002008-05-28T07:34:19.650-05:00May 9th: Sea Dragon Tempura Royal Udon<p>Well, I've decided to serve Udon tonight because the weather is cold outside and it's pouring wet.
